Ponder it's AWESOMENESS

I am a Human Resources Professional
(By God's grace)

I grew up in the barrios of San Antonio, Texas.  My father died when I was in the 2nd Grade and my mother, brothers and I moved into what was called the Victoria Courts, a public housing project.  San Antonio is home to most of my family members.  I have two older brothers and one older sister.  I am the "baby" in the family...probably the most spoiled.  I went to both public and private schools, when my mom could afford it.  I actually got help from my Aunt Diana to go to Saint Michael's Academy from the 2nd - 6th Grade.  My mom got us an upper apartment in "the courts."  The neighborhood was a typical public housing project...you might imagine what that was like, so I won't repeat it here.  By the time I was to go to Middle School, my mother moved us out of the projects into a rental home near the city's Southside.  I went to Page Junior high, where I joined the band and learned to play the Tenor Sax.  I loved Band...I hated Gym.

My High School years at Brackenridge High School were fantastic!  I stayed in the Band, now playing the Alto Sax.  I couldn't afford to buy a new Saxaphone so my mom bought me a used Alto Sax.  My brother-in-law, Raymond was a musician and he had the horn tuned up, fixed up with new pads, and had a new shiny gloss put on it.  I thought I would major in music in College, but that was not to happen.  On my first day of class at San Antonio Junior College, I showed up for Band Class with my Sax in an old, tattered case, held together with "contact paper," usually used to line kitchen cabinets, and my belt holding the case closed.  It seemed as though all the students had new horns and new cases, but me.  I excused myself, left the room and never returned.  I was embarrassed and humiliated.  I was a good horn player, but my self-image was tied to that old horn and broken case.

I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from one of the most prestigious Universities in San Antonio...Incarnate Word.  After receiving that 1st degree, the others were a blast...notice I did not say a breeze.  I received my 1st Master's from Oblate School in San Antonio and continued further studies after graduation at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.  My GPA's improved as I progressed.  I ended up with a GPA of 4.0 at Creighton University.

I love the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. I got a lot of "flack," as you might imagine while I was living in the Washington DC area, home of that "other team."  Photography is a hobby I have had since elementary school.  I particularly love Nature and mountain scenes.  I have been to the top of the Continental Divide, to Shenendoah, and to the North Pole.  I have traveled the world and interacted with various cultures...some unimaginably native.

God has blessed me and I bring so many gifts to those fortunate to know me.  I am not perfect, but I am made in God's image and likeness and that gives me and you dignity beyond compare.

What a job!

I have come to love the life with which God has blessed me.  Out of profound love for God's people and the Church, my life has changed.  With God's help my life goes on...taking a different direction, as we learned the Magi had done.  Let's keep each other, our Priests, Bishops and leaders of the Church in prayer.  Let us remember those who are hurting in so many ways in particular.  May God bless you.
